Here are some hard facts: Banan District covers around 1,823 km² and has an urban population of approximately 977,000. Its terrain spans mountains, hills and floodplain as part of the southern Sichuan Basin. The station was built to serve high‑speed rail but faces what’s called a “lamp under the bushel” dilemma: being so close (≈30 km) to the major hub Chongqing East Railway Station, it suffers from weaker train frequency and passenger volumes.
