‘Are You Really’ is probably the most unusual song The Mudgang has ever released. Initially there was no intention at all to ever release it as a Mudgang song. The ‘new or no wave’ bass and Killing Joke-like guitars immediately give you a flashback to the dark early 1980s and would rather fit into a pre-Mudgang period, miles away from their usual garage rock mix. When Tom Derie (Stoneson/Soapstone) heard the song, he insisted on giving the lead vocal a shot, something we never expected from the soul singer.  Against all odds, the combination dark song - golden voice proved to be an instant match. The fine mix by Stephan Misseghers (dEUS drummer) did the rest.
