We were shuttled from our ship docked in Juneau, out to Mendenhall Lake. Our kayak tour starts about 60 feet above sea level on the west side of the lake. We kayak out 2.5 miles past recently calved icebergs, learning all about Alaska and this area from our guide, from Alaska Travel Adventures. We round a peninsula where Arctic Terns like to nest, having arrived from Argentina. Then we get to see the glacier and the mighty Nugget Falls. Alaska is so ruggedly beautiful, especially on a sunny day like this one. Bask in the stillness of the lake, and the majesty of the glacier and might waterfall with us!
