Charles Munger on His Lifelong Friendship with Warren Buffett In this interview, Charles Munger, longtime Vice Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, reflects on his decades-long business partnership and close friendship with Warren Buffett, which began in 1959. Munger shares timeless insights on what makes a great company, the art of investing, and the power of understanding big ideas. Charles Thomas Munger was born in 1924 in Omaha, Nebraska. He studied mathematics at the University of Michigan, served in the U.S. Army, studied meteorology at Caltech, and earned a J.D. from Harvard Law School. After a brief legal career, he focused on investment and real estate development. From 1962 to 1975, he ran his own investment partnership and served as chairman of Wesco Financial Corporation, which later became a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway.
