This has inspired many modern day treasure hunts across the Americas, the coasts of Africa, and even Asia, with numerous individuals claiming to have found silver bars supposedly belonging to Kidd. As it stands, none of the 'treasure' uncovered has been traced back to the notorious privateer, but his name is still revered the world over, nonetheless. Not only did Captain William Kidd lead a life of adventure across the high seas, but he also died a particularly grisly death, unsurprisingly at the hands of the authorities.
