Camino Frances Day 16 Mansilla de las Camino to Leon to La Vergen del camino

Day 16 Mansilla de las Mulas to Leon la Virgen del Camino – 28km The morning started off well. It was a nice brisk morning which is a great change. We were graced with another beautiful sunrise. We had gone a few kms when we were just catching a glimpse of Leon when who should pass us but Matt and Alexandria. So we had a bit of a catch up, wished them both well and they were on their way. What a lovely city Leon is, if time permitted we would have liked to spend a couple of days here exploring. We had a wander around Leon through the Plazas and I brought pair of sandals. After a bite of lunch I changed into the sandals and walked the last 10km to our Albergue. Good look sandals and socks however it was a good choice as today I didn’t limp into our final stop for the day. Today the walks was relatively flat which made for an easier day. Our 28km walk ended up being a lot longer but today we are no worse for wear. Our Albergue is rather modern and lacking the old Spanish charm but you can’t win every day. It’s clean and tidy and a place to rest our weary bodies and catch a nice cold beer. We had a different tea tonight 1st course: rice topped with tomato sauce and 2 x fried eggs, 2nd course: hamburger pattie and chips, 3rd course: lemon zest yoghurt. When you’re hungry you’ll eat anything. Our German amigos Helge and Robert also has tea at our Albergue. So it great to catch up with them again. Another early night for us. We can’t seem to stay up past 9:00pm Until tomorrow Buen Camino
