This is a cab view of the Keihin-Tohoku Line, Tokyo's most iconic commuter line. Keihin refers to the area between Tokyo and Yokohama, while Tohoku refers to the region north of Tokyo. Originally, the line was formed by two routes originating from Tokyo Station, connecting the two. Using a train system that passes through Tokyo, it carries commuters from Yokohama in the south and Saitama in the north. While the Tokaido Line and Yokosuka Line run parallel to the line in this section, the Keihin-Tohoku Line offers greater convenience to people in more areas by having more stations than its parallel counterparts. Naturally, the average train speed is slower, but passengers can transfer to Tokaido Line trains and other services at major stations like Tokyo and Yokohama, enabling longer-distance express travel. Announcements on the train also announce connections to other lines at major stations. Shinagawa Station, the terminus of this trip, has a long history as an important junction. Along with Sakuragicho Station in Yokohama (formerly Yokohama Station when railways first opened in Japan), it was one of the earliest stations to open in Japan. Naturally, the station is spacious, but it's currently undergoing major renovations and is expected to look completely different in a few years. I plan to upload footage from Shinagawa Station onward. Photographed in October 2025.
