Debut performance of this original song by Bobby Raymond, celebrating the musical legacies of his father, as well as musician/composer Robert Molin. From Bobby Raymond / Markus Schwartz 2025 Residency at Haiti Cultural Exchange. Featuring Bobby Raymond (bass), Roland Cameau (guitar/vox), Gary Josama (guitar/vox), Joe Montour (lead vox), Camille Hostin (perc) and Markus Schwartz (congas). Written by Bobby Raymond, with lyrics by Joe Montour, arranged by Bobby Raymond with Gary Josama and Roland Cameau. The "twoubadou" or troubadour tradition in Haitian music incorporates elements of Haitian folkloric music going back to the population's African roots, as well as influence from Cuba due to cross migration, French chanson traditions. The lilting and weaving of guitars evokes West African Highlife music as well as Soukous. The twoubadou musicians used many other instruments such as banjo, accordion, and a "manouba" otherwise known as a marimbula or rumba box, found throughout the Afro-Caribbean diaspora.
