XXL 7 segment display as a 100K FOLLOWERCOUNTER | makermoekoe

I've build a huge seven segment display to watch my Instagram followers hit the 100.000! Base material is 19mm medium-density fibreboard (MDF) which I milled down to a simple one digit seven segment thingi. The WS2812 LEDs are cutted to little strings of 5 pieces to be put inside all the segments. To diffuse the light from the LEDs I got the best results with using two types of foam between the lights and the 3mm white acrylic glass. A single layer of 5mm foam and three layers of 1mm foam. The segments can be connected to those little 3D printed jacks on the backside of every segments. If I will need a new segment, I can just create a single one and add it to the display.
