Gynaecomastia Treated with Excision of Gland and VASER Liposuction [BB grade 2a] {Patient 2022-7015}

Face blurred for privacy. Gynaecoamstia (Male breast enlargement) for several years feels that it has got worse since he put on weight. On examination has hard rubbery breast gland that is extending outside the Nipple areola. According to Dr Beldholm’s gynaecomastia grading system this is a Grade BB 2a and the recommended treatment is VASER liposuction with excision of the hard gland. Age: 33 years old on presentation Operation: VASER liposuction performed on the chest and sides. Incision made under the areola and the breast gland was removed on both sides. A 10F belovac drain was placed with was removed the following day. Histopathology result MACROSCOPIC: 'Right breast tissue'. The specimen consists of a piece of fibroadipose breast tissue measuring 46x41x20mm and weighing 16g. The cut surface shows uniform fibroadipose breast tissue. No focal lesions seen. 'Left breast tissue'. The specimen consists of a piece offibroadipose breast tissue measuring 40x36x20mm and weighing 13g. The cut surface shows uniform fibroadipose breast tissue. No focal lesions seen. MICROSCOPIC: Specimens 1 and 2 show similar microscopic appearances. Sections from the breast tissue show fibrofatty tissue and breast parenchyma. No in situ or invasive malignancy is seen.
