ഇറാനിലെ തന്ത്രപ്രധാനമായ ചബാഹര്‍ തുറമുഖ വികസനത്തിനായി ഇത്തവണ കേന്ദ്ര ബജറ്റില്‍ ഇന്ത്യ ഫണ്ട് വകയിരുത്താത്തത് ഇന്ത്യയ്ക്കും ഇറാനും ഒരുപോലെ നിരാശാജനകമാണെന്ന് ഇറാന്റെ വിദേശകാര്യമന്ത്രി അബ്ബാസ് അരാഘ്ചി അറിയിച്ചു. ഇന്ത്യന്‍ മഹാസമുദ്ര മേഖലയെ മധ്യേഷ്യയുമായും യൂറോപ്പുമായും ബന്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ഒരു 'സുവര്‍ണ്ണ കവാടം' എന്നാണ് ചബഹാര്‍ തുറമുഖത്തെ അദ്ദേഹം വിശേഷിപ്പിച്ചത്. ഈ പദ്ധതി പൂര്‍ണ്ണമായും വികസിപ്പിക്കുകയാണെങ്കില്‍ ഇന്ത്യയെ സംബന്ധിച്ച് അത് വലിയൊരു നേട്ടമായി മാറുമെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം ഒരു അഭിമുഖത്തിലാണ് അദ്ദേഹം വ്യക്തമാക്കി. 'പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി മോദി ഒരിക്കല്‍ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ, ചബഹാര്‍ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ മഹാസമുദ്ര മേഖലയെ മധ്യേഷ്യ, തുടര്‍ന്ന് യൂറോപ്പ് എന്നിവിടങ്ങളുമായി ബന്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ഒരു സുവര്‍ണ്ണ കവാടമാണ്. ഇത് വളരെ തന്ത്രപ്രധാനമായ ഒരു തുറമുഖമാണ്. പൂര്‍ണ്ണമായി വികസിപ്പിച്ചാല്‍, ഇറാനിലൂടെയുള്ള ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ബന്ധം മധ്യേഷ്യയിലേക്കും തുടര്‍ന്ന് യൂറോപ്പിലേക്കും ബന്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിന് ഇതിന് പ്രധാന പങ്ക് വഹിക്കാന്‍ കഴിയും' മന്ത്രി പറഞ്ഞു. In an interview, he emphasized that if this project is fully developed, it would be a major achievement for India. "As Prime Minister Modi once said, Chabahar is a Golden Gateway connecting the Indian Ocean region to Central Asia and onwards to Europe. It is a highly strategic port.
