Mace Windu falls through the skyline of Coruscant, in disbelief at what has just transpired, this is what his life has come to? THUD Mace opens his eyes, in disbelief, he’s somehow still alive. But when he looks around, he's not on the grounds of coruscant. He’s in the Jedi Temple, meditating in his lonesome as he would usually do. The panic sets in, breath heaving, he gets up and ignites his lightsaber. Sidious. Anakin. Where are they? What’s going on here? He remembers everything. The sith scream, his lifelong friends dying. Sidious. Anakin’s betrayal. Mace: That mutha fucka! But somehow, he’s still here. Thoughts run through Mace’s mind, why is he here? How is he here? Where is he? Is this the afterlife? He sets out through the jedi temple, searching for any clues when he sees yoda. Yoda: Mace, troubled you look. Done meditating so soon? Mace: I… don't know, master. I feel like I had a most terrible session, my head feels clouded.. Tell me, what’s on the agenda for the day? Yoda: Let it pass, you must. Larger matter at hand, there is. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, returning from Naboo, they are. Returning from Naboo? Mace realizes it now; he was sent back in time. No, he was revived somehow and sent back to the beginning. To where it all started. He can’t come to any other conclusion; this must be the will of the force. An atonement? Or a fixing of what’s happened? Either way, he knows what he must do. Sidious will pay. A few hours later, Queen Amidala, Qui-Gon, and Obi-Wan return to the Jedi Temple, with a young boy in tow. However, the Jedi Council goes into session, Mace Windu takes a trip to the naboo senatorial quarters and casually walks in on a conversation going on, between Queen Amidala and Senator Palpatine, the soon-to-be chancellor. Palpatine: You could… call for a vote of no confidence in Chancellor Vallorum. Mace: Queen Amidala, let me assure you, that isn’t necessary. I’ve already highlighted to the chancellor the gravity of this situation. The Jedi will ensure Naboo will be freed from Trade Federation control. They’ve gone too far this time. Padme: Thank you Master Jedi. I can’t begin to express how happy I am to hear that. Palpatine: Queen Amidala, if I may, what could the Jedi truly do in the face of the Trade Federation’s Droid Army? While the council is surprised to hear about the sith and this boy Anakin Skywalker, Mace Windu knows exactly the situation they’re in and who this boy is. Anakin Skywalker, the one who betrayed him, betrayed the Jedi, the republic, everything they stood for. Yet, he knows the same way he feels towards him now, the disdain and distrust he’s always held for Skywalker, is the exact reason for Anakin’s fall, for why anakin didn’t trust him. He grits his teeth at the thought, cursing the force for putting him through this, but he knows it’s the correct path. Qui-Gon: My only conclusion can be that it was a sith lord. Ki-Adi: Impossible. The Sith have been extinct for a millennium. Mace: Masters, we must take this seriously. Qui-Gon has no reason to lie about a Sith Lord returning. As ridiculous as it may sound, we must be vigilant. Yoda: Agree with you, I do, Master Windu. Hard to see, the dark side is. Mace: Qui-Gon, do you have something else to report? Qui-Gon: Yes, master, I’ve encountered a vergence in the force.
