Michael Mauro, MD, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York City, NY, discusses the management of cardiovascular adverse events (AEs) associated with long-term or lifelong therapy with tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) in patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). Prof. Mauro explains that it is important to risk stratify patients when choosing a frontline therapy to minimize the risk of AEs, and to select more tolerable drugs like asciminib in later treatment lines.
