SANTA MONICA, Calif. — Friday, October 24, 2025 — A Spin technician was seen collecting more than a dozen shared e-bikes that had been stacked in a pile near Ocean View Park, adjacent to the Santa Monica Beach bike path. The bicycles, part of the city’s dockless bike-share fleet, were retrieved after being left scattered and blocking the public right-of-way — a growing frustration among beachgoers and cyclists who frequent the popular coastal route. Residents say the bikes are often left in the middle of the path once riders complete their trips, forcing others to maneuver around them or risk collisions. According to the technician on-site, the recovery effort was part of Spin’s routine rebalancing operation. Bikes collected from congested or problematic areas are loaded into company vans and redistributed to designated hubs across the city to maintain even availability.
