Norton Bridge Station, once a quiet outpost on the West Coast Main Line, served as an ideal vantage point for capturing high-speed rail traffic through Staffordshire. Even in its prime, it was a lonely station — a relic of an earlier age of travel. Passenger services were suspended in 2004 and never reinstated, leading to the station’s formal closure in 2017. The surrounding landscape, however, continued to evolve. In March 2016, a new flyover north of the station transformed the network, allowing the Stoke branch to pass over the main line toward Crewe without interruption. With this development, services to and from Manchester now operate via the slow lines from Stafford, through a new junction near Little Bridgeford, before joining the main route via the flyover — eliminating the need for the once complex flat junction movements. Here in1998, there was still a great variety of locomotive hauled trains to be seen and a day spent filming proved to be a great choice. #NortonBridge #WestCoastMainLine #RailwayDocumentary #BritishRail #RailHistory
