Hey everyone, welcome to my time-lapse restoration series! In this project, we’ll go step-by-step through the full rebuild of my old aluminum jon boat — a Grumman 1437 from 1989. The goal was simple: bring this classic back to life with 100% safety and functionality in mind. That means proper sealing, unsinkable foam panels, a bilge pump, navigation lights, and a fully soundproofed deck — all wired and built using marine-grade materials only: tinned copper cables, stainless steel rivets, and corrosion-resistant hardware. Once the structure was solid, the boat received its final touch — a fresh coat of paint in ‘Red-Leg Camo’ design. The restoration is divided into three parts: Part 1: The Bottom — removing old antifouling, sanding, sealing, priming, and finishing with a unique protective top layer. Part 2: Transom Repair — full restoration and reinforcement, replacing the old wood with aluminum profiles. Part 3: Paint Job — the final look and detailing that make the boat truly one of a kind. So sit back, relax, and enjoy watching this old jon boat turn into something new again!
