For this week's interview, I had the immense fortune of being hosted by Dokushô Villalba at the "Luz Serena" Monastery, founded in 1989. In this meeting, we delved into a fascinating topic and answered questions that may interest not only practitioners of Zen meditation or any other tradition, but also any spectator curious to learn about and discover the "De profundis" of Zen meditation. What does Zen meditation really consist of? What is the path to follow within this instruction? What is the correct attitude to carry out this practice? What is the ultimate goal of Zen meditation? What are its fruits? Why has there been a disconnection from traditional paths of knowledge and awakening? What is the ideal of the Zen practitioner? How can we integrate this meditation into our daily lives? What does the pure experience of the moment mean? What is a koan and what function does it have within this tradition? These and other questions are addressed in a clear, accessible, and profound way by Dokushô Villalba Roshi, a Zen priest since 1978. He received his ordination from the venerable master Taisen Deshimaru Roshi and, in 1987, the Transmission of the Dharma from his second master, the venerable Shuyu Narita Roshi. He is the founder and president of the Spanish Soto Zen Buddhist Community and founder and spiritual director of the Luz Serena Monastery; creator of the MBTB protocol (Mindfulness based on Buddhist tradition); and founding president of the School of Mindfulness. He is also the author of more than thirty works on Zen Buddhism and Eastern spirituality, including "MINDFULNESS" and "ZEN IN THE MARKET PLACE," both published by Kairós.
