On the hunt for global solutions for the SDGs, in the name of ViA (Visions in Action http://forum-via.org/de/), as one of the SDG reporters. SDG #8 (Target 8.7): "immediate and effective measures to eradicate forced labour, end modern slavery and human trafficking and secure the prohibition and elimination of the worst forms of child labour, including recruitment and use of child soldiers, and by 2025 end child labour in all its forms." One solution to reach this goal I could find in Sydney, Australia. The Freedom Hub is a NGO and social business to help ending modern slavery within Australia. All the profits from the Café goes towards helping the survivors. In the survivor school they learn how to reintegrate into society after their traumatic experiences. Also The Freedom Hub educates businesses how to make sure there is no slavery involved in any of their supply chains. A wonderful, empowering business – which would be needed in every country!
