Learn how to sew your own insulated Roman Shade style window blanket using Warm Window insulated backing and the fabric of your choice. After years of trying different methods, I've found the quickest way to sew these great window treatments. To make my design you will need. 1. Warm Window backing the size of the shade you want to make. The backing is 55 inches wide so if your window is taller than 55 inches you will have to buy the width of the window times 2. The pleat lines run the length of the fabric so the selvage edges are at the top and the bottom of the window. 2. Cover fabric of almost any kind. (I used the commercial curtain that was previously on the window in this video, but anything from upholstery fabric to chintz will do. Get enough fabric to cut 3 inches longer and 2 inches wider than the backing. 3. Small plastic rings, small screw eyes, and polyester chording to create the shade's working mechanism. 4. A steel rod 1/4'-3/8' did the width of your shade. 5. A piece of trim wood and long screws to mount above your window for the shade to mount to. 6. A staple gun to staple the top of the window to the mounting board. You can find the backing at most big box fabric stores or by contacting the company at www.warmcompany.com. It comes in white and ivory.
