Fly with us in our Piper Arrow into beautiful Camarillo Airport (KCMA) onto Runway 26. We’ll talk about the delicious Waypoint Café, the insane wait times for IFR release on busy days and how to ask for a departure that’ll take you over Naval Air Station Point Mugu. Stick around til the end to see amazing views of Point Mugu from above! TRANSIENT PARKING There is a lot of transient parking at KCMA. You’ll find transient parking located south of Taxiway F at G2. There are tiedown chain at most spots but as always bring your own. Please note that ramp access is limited after hours. You can access the ramp from street side through the viewport plane spotting area and Channel Islands confirmed that you can access the field through their main office. However, a key card is required to access the ramp after business hours. Overnight Fees are: $8 / single engine $10 / twin engine FBO There are three FBOs on the field; Sun Air, Air 7 and Channel Island Aviation. We have utilized the services of any of these FBOs. However, they all provide similar services: crew cars, rental car reservations, full service fuel & pilot lounge. All the FBOs look luxurious and we can’t wait to try them out! FUEL There is self-serve 100LL avgas. The fuel pump is located south of Taxiway F at B- in front of Tower. You can get full service fuel from any of the FBOs on field. RESTROOMS Restrooms are located in the FBOs and restaurant. You’ll also find port-a-potties located around the airport. We have been told that the newest hangars on the northeast side of the airport have two accessible restrooms. CREW CAR / CAR RENTAL Sun Air, Air 7 and Channel Islands Aviation all provide crew cars with limits. Crew cars are typically on a first come basis so please call ahead to verify availability. Rental car reservations can be coordinated through your FBO of choice. Rideshare is another good option for getting around Camarillo (use Waypoint Café as your pickup spot). FOOD You can’t talk about Camarillo Airport without mentioning Waypoint Café. One of the top rated pilot destinations for food. You’ll find a varied menu with items ranging from pancakes to burgers – and everything is delicious. Even the service is top-notch. If you’re looking for a treat try a milkshake! The Commemorative Air Force has a museum on field. Their collection is stunning and even more impressive their entire collection flies! The CAF is a non-profit, volunteer run organization and is privately funded. Make sure to stop by, get up close and personal with the aircraft and ask questions. They also do warbird rides for an additional fee! The museum us open Friday – Sunday with limited hours https://www.cafsocal.com/museum/tours/ If you’re looking for a fun shopping trip, Camarillo Premium Outlets are just 2 miles to the Northeast. The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library is only a 30 min drive northeast. The grounds are beautiful and the rotating exhibits here are always intriguing. If you’re looking for a weekend getaway Ojai is about an hour north drive. You’ll find beautiful boutique hotels, spas, incredible hiking and food.
