On the 26th of January I set out to Willoughby to capture some footage of their new Volvos. After filming a green waste truck in Willoughby East, I spotted 23BR at the end of the street collecting recycling. After struggling with filming of the green waste truck in the area due to tight roads and little parking spaces, I quickly got what I could on the street of 23BR before heading over to Castlecrag knowing that the area would be much easier to obtain footage of trucks. I ended up entering the area to find the greens, garbage and recycling all in a little dead ender area. As soon as i spotted how tight the streets were when the trucks were in there I waited at the top of the street and waited for the 23BG to come up. Thinking it had been down there the longest, I waited a good 15 minutes before he came up to the top of the dead ender before getting the permission to film off the driver. As you could tell, this driver was a very happy driver, hitting the horn in almost every clip more then once. JJ Richards started the new contract on the 4th of March, retiring the then 11 year old side and rear loaders. 1652, the facelift side loader is still around which I have a video to come out of it at some point. The fleet now consist of around 10 Volvo FEs with 25m bodies on them and the new rear loaders being Mercedes Econics with Bucher Urbin bodies.
