Ciudad Medical, Zamboanga City August 31, 2016 President Rodrigo Roa Duterte visited three wounded-in-action (WIA) soldiers of the Philippine Army (PA) admitted at Ciudad Medical in Zamboanga City. Accompanied by National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, the Commander-in-Chief conferred the Wounded Personnel Medal to Cpl. Ahmad Nuroh, Pfc. Johnrel Alalag, and SSgt. Mark Galotera. President Duterte had a brief talk with the soldiers and their wives. He gave an initial financial assistance to the wounded soldiers and assured the wives of their enrollment in the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps). This is aside from the offer of a government post through the help of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG). Nuroh and Alalag were wounded while conducting pursuit and blocking operations against Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) members at Brgy. Maligay in Patikul, Sulu on August 29, 2016.
