In rural Malawi, getting online has never been easy. Mobile data is costly, speeds are slow, and many schools and homes have never had internet access. But that reality is changing. Through a community-led connectivity model supported by unconnected.org and the Internet Society Foundation’s BOLT Grant Program, schools are becoming digital hubs, bringing affordable internet to students, teachers, and surrounding villages. This video highlights the stories of women like Alifane Msowoya, a teacher determined to challenge stereotypes and open digital doors for girls, and Ruth Mwenelupembe, a student who dreams of becoming a journalist. With access to technology, women and girls in Malawi are no longer just users of the internet — they are becoming creators, leaders, and role models within their communities.
