Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) College of Allied Health Sciences Building and Visit to the Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center (OMMC) Malate, City of Manila February 6, 2026 "Layon ng pamahalaan na mabigyan ng oportunidad ang mga estudyanteng nangangailangan na makapag-aral sa mahusay na unibersidad," stated President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. when he led the groundbreaking ceremony of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) College of Allied Health Sciences Building and visited the Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center (OMMC) in Malate, City of Manila. In his keynote speech, the President emphasized the Administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality education and healthcare. He said that the new facility would provide the younger generation the opportunity to study medicine and allied health sciences, shaping not only their skills but also the character of future health professionals. The project will offer programs in Medical Technology, Radiologic Technology, Nursing, Physical Therapy, Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences, supporting students from underserved communities in Manila. He highlighted the government’s ongoing investments in healthcare, noting that more than Php549.83 billion has been allocated this year to strengthen the health sector. These funds will support the Department of Health (DOH), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), specialty hospitals, Department of National Defense (DND) and Philippine National Police (PNP) hospitals, local government health programs, medical scholarships and tuition subsidies in state universities, Philippine General Hospital (PGH) medical assistance and the Zero Balance Billing program. “Lahat ng ito ay inaasahang magpapabuti ng serbisyong medikal at magpapalakas ng ating health sector. Hindi na po natin hahayaang magtiis sa sakit ang ating mga kababayan dahil sa kawalan ng pantustos [sa] pagpapagamot,” the President said. He stressed the importance of collaboration between the national government and local government units (LGUs) in ensuring accessible healthcare for all. The President also mentioned the Php15 million donation turnover to the President Corazon C. Aquino General Hospital in Baseco and acknowledged OMMC’s achievements under the Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP) as proof that government efforts reach more Filipinos through cooperation with LGUs and partner agencies. He urged the public to take advantage of available health programs and services, saying, “Samantalahin ninyo ang mga programang ito upang mapangalagaan ang inyong mga sarili. Bukas po ang mga serbisyong ito para sa lahat — lalo na sa higit na nangangailangan.” “Sama-sama po natin itaguyod ang isang Bagong Pilipinas kung saan ang bawat isa ay kayang mamuhay ng may seguridad, magtagumpay sa kanilang layunin, at makatulong sa pagpapaunlad ng ating minamahal na Pilipinas,” President Marcos Jr. concluded in his message.
