Hike up Mam Tor from Castleton: How to hike an easy but superb route from Castleton to Mam Tor.

This is a wonderful introduction into hill walking in the Peak District. Mam Tor doesn't quite make it in the mountain stakes, being just under 1600 feet but it's a 'must do' baptism for many aspiring hill walkers and hikers. Everyone has done Mam Tor and there's a reason for that, it's doable by virtually everyone and the views are stunning. Most people park nearby and ascend only a very small way, that doesn't do it justice. This walk, from Castleton, is just under 6 miles. Every turn is recorded and there is a route map in this video for you to pause and check out the route. Do Mam Tor, do it from Castleton, park in the village and pay a farmer for a cheap car park as we did and have a pint or an ice cream when you've finished. What could be better than that?
