South Africa’s illicit economies will be considered within the context of the 2025 Global and Africa organised crime indices. The Global Organised Crime Index 2025, which encompasses the Africa Organised Crime Index, shows the world at a crossroads on dealing with illicit economies. Criminals have taken advantage of geopolitical competition, technology, violent conflicts, trade wars and the erosion of democracy to expand their markets.
