Dave Moloney is a seasoned engineering leader with extensive experience in developing and scaling complex hardware systems. For 15 years, he was a pivotal figure at Google, where he ultimately served as the Head of Hardware for the Geospatial Division. In this role, he led the engineering teams responsible for the global fleet of sensor systems that capture the imagery for Google Maps, Street View, and Google Earth. His leadership was crucial in designing, building, and deploying the sophisticated camera and LiDAR technology used worldwide. Within Google, mapping division has been at the forefront of AI use and the use of large-scale data models. In June of 2025, Moloney transitioned to a new challenge, joining the joint venture between Rivian and Volkswagen. He now serves as the Sr. Staff Technical Program Manager, Wireless Systems Software, Rivian VW Technologies, which is focused on developing next-generation software-defined vehicle (SDV) platforms for both automakers.
