One for the rivet counters! Apart from a period oil cooler fitted in California for the right reasons ... this is one incredibly original 1978 A2 example that I have spent 2 weeks sympathetically "refreshing" so it is not restored JUST nice & beautifully detailed (not quite finished yet but had to get some photos/video before rain sets in!) whilst retaining a natural patina (not the usual overused word for tatty - this is anything BUT!) Apart from a professional respray in original livery & a new seat it is incredibly original for a 45 year old classic with all original chrome, exhausts, bolts, fixings & fastenings & frame paintwork! The original Takasago rims are (and I use the word rarely) UNBELIEVABLY good & a testament to the original quality. All switches, brake reservoirs, cables, brake lines, headlight - yep original! It's a beautiful work of art from 1978 & with the prices of '73 Z1's now stratospheric these later (and arguably better) Z1000's are a great buy whilst still so affordable ... especially non restored with loads of pattern parts ... even the original exhausts, owners handbook & it's first service invoice at 1000 miles! The "pièce de résistance" for me is the 1979 SHOW DECAL still on the original fork leg ... love it! Whilst not concours, certainly show worthy & I gave it it's 1st inaugural ride out today about 40 miles, smooth as butter, lovely gearbox & turns in a treat, in fact better ride than my own concours restoration that I recently sold, just lovely. Beautiful USA import with no rot & so original - great buy for someone... I am semi-retired & do this as a passion/pension top up - consequently my bikes are competitively priced (I have no overheads) & I believe you will not find better presented examples as I personally detail them PROPERLY with no jet washing or harsh chemicals by using waterless wash & go system & a lot of WD40.
