They said it couldn't be done, but here we are, about 30 years later, and someone finally does a tutorial of sorts. I never recommend anyone use my videos alone as a guide, hence the disclaimer below, but now at least people can know it can be done. Vehicle used was a 1993 Chevy S-10 short bed with the standard cab and 5-speed manual transmission. I did find proof of people doing the 4 bangers like this and maybe the 4.3, but I do think I'm the first to change the oil pan on the 2.8L like this, at least on social media. The only reason someone might want to do it this way is if they can't pull the motor for whatever reason. I'll be honest, you should probably pull the motor, check out that rear freeze plug (I did replace the front one, just not on camera. Ran short on time to get the job done) You will also get access to the rear main seal, which isn't a bad idea to replace since you are possibly restoring a good bit of oil pressure, but do whatever. Maybe you plan on doing it with a clutch job later, or you just did one with a clutch job. Anyway, I hope you found this video entertaining, and maybe even useful.
