PM Modi calls for peace amid Israel-Hamas war

Amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, Prime minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that terrorism anywhere in the world is against humanity and asserted that it is time for peace and brotherhood. Addressing the inaugural session of the ninth G20 Parliamentary Speakers' Summit in New Delhi, PM Modi said that we have to remove obstacles in the way of global trust. He also said that consensus not being achieved on the definition of terrorism was saddening. The Prime Minister had earlier this week condemned the attacks by HAMAS and reiterated support to Israel. Meanwhile, Speaker of the Canadian Senate Raymonde Gagne skipped the Presiding Officers' Summit of Parliaments of G20 nations. This comes in the backdrop of souring diplomatic ties after Canada accused India of involvement in the assassination of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
