Logan Kerbside Cleanup Bulkwaste Collection - with a (circa) 2004 MacDonald Johnston JP5!!!

Well, where to start: It has been many many years since an Australian Enthusiast in the waste industry last uploaded a video of a JJs MacDonald Johnston JP5 based on an Acco chassis in action, and quite frankly, until a couple months ago I had thought they were all gone for good and they had done their period of service and were nothing more than a distant memory & piece of history. Never did I expect all these years later, that I would be the one filming standing in front of yet another beauty one right before my eyes, and on kerbside cleanup bulky waste! So on the 23rd of October (post a couple of months Co-vid restrictions easing), I had discovered that surprisingly Logan City Council's kerbside cleanup annual domestic collection was still running (and hadn’t been affected consequently like Brisbane’s was back in April they canceled it for two years) and on this week it was scheduled for a suburb known as Marsden (not far at all from the industrial suburb of Crestmead (where the JJs Logan Depot Yard is situated)). Without further ado, I had decided to go down for yet again another day in Logan and see if I could find anything to snatch up on get on camera especially because as you know when the contract is up next year on the 30th June 2021 JJs have lost the contract to Cleanaway who will be taking over with a brand new fleet of trucks situated at a brand new depot. Not long after midday I wondered into an estate section as I figured if I found something in here it will be a piece of cake trying to follow it around. After 5 minutes looking around, I discovered a jjs rear loader in there, but when I was fully conscious and recognised just exactly & how significant what it was that I had actually found, my mouth was lying wide open in shock for at least a minute or two. I just couldn't believe it. And I still can't too this day explain to you guys why and how I managed to get so lucky on his day and now just how grateful and thankful I am to be absolutely blessed & privileged bring you this upload. So here we have unit 5502 at work, and I should add it is more than likely that seeing as JJs has the contract for kerbside cleanup services too, that these old school gun beasts will be put and laid to rest for good too after 1st July next year. I would strongly recommend if anyone in the 'Greater Brisbane range' is feeling a strong desire and lust for filming old pre-Adblue Iveco Acco Trucks anytime before time is up, then get in quick asap and make a day available for a few hours during the Christmas holidays break before next year as pretty much most of the Euro3&4 emissions standard trucks will be scrapped also nation-wide by the end of 2021. Not much else to say really apart from some of the residents in Marsden are really wasteful, it’s pathetic, I wish council's could provide a recycling kerbside garbage truck for cleanup's too, but what can you do. Individuals with great ideas are not the ones in power to make and set the rules. This turned out to be a very successful filming day for me as earlier in the day I also got a 2008 model 0861, went to the Crestmead depot, and also paid a quick visit past the Browns Plains Waste and Recycling Transfer Station and Landfill.
