What's So Good About Super 16mm Film? (Arri SR3 4K)

Film is not dead! I recently had the unique opportunity to film with an Arri SR3 Super 16mm camera for a documentary and a short film that is now streaming on DirectTV. Here is some test footage that I filmed in preparation for these projects and to ensure that the camera was working properly. I took the camera out into New Jersey farmland and then into New York City to capture a variety of footage and see how the camera operates under different lighting conditions. The lens used was a Zeiss 11-110 T2.2 Cine Zoom lens. I used multiple versions of Kodak vision 3 motion picture film stock. Links to these film stocks will be further down in the description. If I had the chance, I'd probably use film for all of my projects. As a cinematographer, this is a wonderful medium to work with and really adds unique character to the images that I create. In addition to the look, I enjoy the process of working with rugged mechanical machines that are truly built to last. This footage was scanned to 2k by Colorlab, but I used the Super Scale feature in Davinci Resolve to boost the resolution to 4k. This was done to avoid harsh YT compression (compression and film grain don't mix well). I hope you enjoyed this footage and learned something new about film cinematography techniques.
