A conversation with E.B. Moss and another of her "friends in high places" - Deborah Burns, who went from Chief Innovation Officer of major magazines, such as Elle Decor and Metropolitan Home to become a best-selling memoirist and corporate consultant! Deborah explains the path to her book, Saturday's Child, on her evolution from dancing around her emotionally distant, narcissistic mother. But it manages to be a more witty than heavy -- just like you would expect from two friends and a glass of wine. Here's an example: "It doesn't feel good not to be a priority or not fully loved, but it gave me gifts beyond measure. It made me more intuitive. I had a natural trait, but it was honed razor sharp at her feet because I was always trying to figure her out. It made me imaginative, because if I didn't entertain her, maybe she wouldn't see me next Saturday. And, you know what? It played well very well at the office. Everyone wanted me on their team because I loved making other talent shine. I didn't need to be number one. She trained me well, and when I spotted someone who was super, I loved like enhancing their work and helping them. And you know what? Everybody wants a piece of that." You'll want a piece of Deborah's insights. Listen here - and please subscribe to It's Quite a Living podcasts for more conversations with friends in high places. Many thanks to composer Marc Blatte for the original score. He's another friend (okay, relative) in high places that I'll have to put in the interview seat soon, too! Stand by!
