#algonquin #mizzylake #hike #spring Mizzy Lake Trail - Hiking in Algonquin Provincial Park One of the best trails I have hiked on... In the heart of Algonquin Provincial Park off Highway 60, this 11-12km loop trail offers a true "wilderness" feel with plenty of opportunites to view wildlife (moose, deer, beaver, otter, different kinds of birds...). I spotted several hoofprints, animal tracks, moose/ deer droppings, but could not spot a single moose or deer :-( My luck with wildlife sightings remain elusive. The trail was moderately challenging, many patches of snow and parts of the trail was flooded with water melting off the snow - made it very interesting. I was greeted with rain/ sleet in the last hour of the hike. Overall it took my 5 hrs to complete (of course I had stopped and admired the surrounding beauty many times thus maybe taking an hour and a half longer than what it usually take to complete). 00:00 Getting to Mizzy Lake Trailhead 01:35 First signs of Wildlife! 04:09 Post 1: Beaver Dam 06:18 Post 2: Mizzy Lake 09:20 Moose tracks 09:58 Deer tracks 11:53 Abandoned railbed of the Ottawa, Arnprior and Parry Sound Railway 12:27 Post 4: West Rose Lake 13:02 Way to Black Bear nests 13:55 Raven 14:53 Post 7: Wolf Howl Pond 19:47 Post 9: March Hare Lake 23:40 Sleet! 25:01 Post 12: Dizzy Lake 26:29 Post 13: Back to the Parking Lot
