Professor of Veterinary Pathology, Dr Arno Wuenschmann, on the health of our wallaby population

Manx Wildlife Trust’s survey, carried out in conjunction with the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture (DEFA), estimated the population of Red-necked Wallabies in the Isle of Manto be over 1,000. The department is now looking at the best ways to assess the health of the wallaby population, which will go some way into evaluating the impact on the local environment and help determine whether any changes in management are necessary. Dr Arno Wuenschmann’s findings, that he shares with us in this fascinating talk, has some insights that will contribute to this assessment. The presentation includes images of an animal autopsy.
