Wanna know which are the best spots in Tobermory? Wanna know where to go for the weekend there? Then this is the video for you! In this video you will follow me as I show you my absolute must-see spots in the Bruce Penninsula so that you can also experience them to yourself. Number 1: Halfway Log Dump My absolute favourite place to go is the Halfway Log Dump. This spot is located in the Bruce Penninsula National Park- so you will need to either have a permit or pay at the parking. The place is magical! It is less busy than the Grotto and the views are I would say even better. To get there you have to take highway 6 until you see Emmet Lake Road- once you turn in the spot is located all the way to the end! Number 2: The Grotto My second favourite spot is the Grotto. This spot is also located in the Bruce Penninsula National Park but you need to reserve your spot online on the Parks Canada Website. If you don't you cannot get in. If you have a Parks Canada Pass make sure you stop at the office to get yourself a refund! The Grotto is a beast- and I mean that in the sense that it is dangerously high. And because of the amount of people it has the tendency of hurting people. You can go down to the Grotto but it is a sketchy way down some slippery rocks. However, I had done it and if you take your time you can get there. There are three ways for you to get to the Grotto from the Head of trails: Via the Georgian Bay Trail (the easiest), The Horse Lake Trail via the Bruce (Moderate) and the Marr Trail (Hard). The Grotto is a must see when you visit Tobermory. Now this isn't in my top spot because the amount of people that visit is too much and I don't get that calming nature feeling, it feels more like a tourist attraction. Number 3: Tobermory Town I love the Tobermory town. It is a small but cute town with a beautiful dock. The waters are blue and exploring this small place makes me feel happy. I love going into the many shops and restaurants that the town has. To get there from Toronto you have to make your way north up the Highway 10 (via the 410) until Highway 6. You take that all the way up to the end. Tobermory is also the Hub for the many boat tours available to go to Fathom Five National Park and the Chi Cheemaun Ferry to Manitoulin Island. Number 4: Tobermory Lighthouse This lighthouse is located on a little islet off the Georgian Bay and to get there you turn left at the end of Highway 6. Once you turn left you take it all the way to the end. There is free parking after 6pm however you do have to pay during those other times. The Lighthouse is the best place to see the open waters of the Georgian Bay and Lake Huron. I love to come here for sunsets and sunrises, and to see the stars. Note that the lighthouse does emit a red light so it might affect you if you want to take photos. Number 5: Little Cove Beach This little gem of a place is located off Little Cove Road. This is also part of the Bruce Penninsula National Park so you do have to pay to enter. However, if you have gone to the Grotto earlier that day you can pay a visit as you pay for the day! I love this place because it is small but also is a great place to swim and see the sunset. I also love it here because you can also walk to the Grotto on the Bruce trail (however long)! Bonus: Exploring the Fathom Five National Marine Park Last but not least is the Fathom Five National Marine Park. You can explore this area via the various boat tour operators in the area. We chose Blue Heron because I have had great experiences with them. There are various boat tours available and they all depart from Tobermory Town. You can take a tour to Flowerpot Island and get off and walk the park, or you can stay aboard the ship to explore the other islands and shipwrecks. This is definitely a must-do, however, I put it as a bonus as it is not necessary to enjoy the area. Since the ships have specific schedules sometimes taking the boat tour would affect you exploring more areas inland. 0:00 Intro 0:44 Halfway Log Dump 4:22 View of Halfway Log Dump from Bruce Trail 6:52 The Grotto 8:32 Hiking the Grotto Via part of the Bruce Trail 10:18 Arriving at Indian Head Cove 11:39 Grotto Cave 12:28 Tobermory Town 14:06 Tobermory Lighthouse 16:10 Little Cove Beach 17:53 Blue Heron Tour to Fathom Five Follow us on Instagram: / theoutdoorla. .
