'Einhänder Original Soundtrack' Country: Japan Year: 21 Dec 1997 Genre: Electronic, Stage & Screen Style: Soundtrack, Trance, Techno This is the OST for the 1997 Side Scrolling Shooter, Einhänder for the Playstation 1. Even for an OST the music sounds like it was made to fit perfectly into the game. The soundtrack combined with the game's visuals and sounds made for a such a thrilling experience. Track list: 00:00 - Assault 01:04 - Take Off 02:03 - Capital 02:38 - Street 05:23 - Ruins 06:27 - Chase 08:04 - Machine Beat 11:39 - Badlands 15:40 - Silence 17:14 - Warning 21:10 - Breakthrough 24:05 - Factory 27:24 - Dawn 30:19 - Madness 33:24 - Conflict 36:36 - Impatience 39:38 - Thermosphere 42:59 - Afterimage 46:16 - Advent 46:55 - Rebellion 48:25 - Zero Gravity 51:39 - Shudder 54:06 - Bloody Battle 57:30 - Muddle 57:50 - Moonlight 58:03 - Judgment 59:14 - Earthlight 1:02:20 - Metempsychosis 1:03:55 - Beginning Something the game did often that added to the ominous and dynamic atmosphere was that it would foreshadow upcoming enemies and bosses by revealing them in the background or foreground. The most notable example of this is during the start of stage 2 where Machine Beat (08:04) plays; the boss of the level is shown in the backdrop, but still clearly in view and passes you by as the intro plays out. Seeing this happen during the beginning of the song made for a creepy atmosphere that wouldn't be as impactful with its individual parts. Another is when Street (3:33) plays; the mini-boss of the first stage sounds off their police sirens as they zoom past to intercept you. Seeing stuff happening in the foreground/background along with the tailor-made soundtrack made the music that much more memorable. They fit so perfectly together that I often imagine sound effects of the game playing when listening to parts of the soundtrack. Although I'm not sure how well the music would sound to someone's who's never played the game, it's still an excellent soundtrack and it's probably the only music from its genre I would ever listen to.
