🥁 STUDIO TOUR — 1950s Slingerland Combo King (“Be-Bop” Outfit) Today we’ve got a rare one. The Combo King / Be-Bop outfits weren’t big sellers in their time, which makes clean surviving examples hard to find. Most were gigged hard in lounges and hotel bands, parted out, or reconfigured. A complete, playable vertical setup like this is getting scarce. This one centers around a 20x18 convertible bass/tom with an orphan 14” rack, surrounded by a china tom, vintage Zilcos, and a 15x8 Concert King snare anchoring our percussion corner. It’s not just a small kit — it’s a convertible system. Flip orientation. Change tuning. Move the beater. New instrument. Nothing else like it for: • Timpani-style swells • Taiko-adjacent weight • Dune soundtrack cover band duties • Big, woody kit mode What makes it special is the fundamental note — dry vintage shells, strong pitch center, physical low end. Less hype. More wood. It doesn’t sound like a modern cocktail kit. It doesn’t sound like a bop kit. It sounds like itself. Old wood. Rare configuration. Convertible architecture. A 1950s experiment still solving modern sessions. Pat at the throne. Combo King in motion. 📍 The Tracking House #StudioTour #ComboKing #BeBopOutfit #ConcertKing #VintageDrums #RareGear #DrumNerds #TextureMachines #TrackingHouse #RealRoomsRealRecords #KCMusic
