This is the Cardinia Rd level crossing in Pakenham, on the Pakenham line, with footage I took back in November 2015 and February 2017. This crossing is on the Victorian government's list of level crossings to be removed. It is currently in the planning stages, but has been fast tracked to be removed by 2021, with construction to start in late 2019. In November 2015, Cardinia Road was a single-laned intersection with original equipment from the 1980's. This included: Two Westinghouse hybrid bells. Both old bells were programmed to sound continuously until the boom gates rise. It's hard to tell at this crossing, because I only filmed one side with the old bells, but for a split second in the video you can hear both bells sounding at 2:07 Westinghouse cross-arms with Westinghouse lights (I'm not sure which ones were marked and unmarked) Westinghouse boom gate mechanisms, both with unmarked bases Later in June 2016, both bells were replaced with General Signals e-bells. Furthermore, in September 2016, the whole crossing was upgraded with new infrastructure, as a result of Cardinia Rd being duplicated at the crossing (thanks Trickymario7654 for that info). The new footage is from February 2017, and the new crossing has: Two General Signals E-Bells. Both are programmed the same way as the old bells Westinghouse cross-arms with marked Westinghouse lights Siemens boom gate mechanisms, both with unmarked bases Unmarked bases on the signals in the median strip Magnetic Autocontrol pedestrian swing gates with push button release escape exits
