History of Asheville River Arts District in One Minute! Asheville is a busy lively city. Its active relationship with the arts combined with its seemingly magnetic allure to the nature-conscience creates a progressive and inspiring art community. The River Arts District has a history tied to the French Broad River, which runs along its coast. The River Arts District was once the bustling downtown commercial area, primarily for the loading and unloading of goods off of the rail system. In 1916, a devastating flood broke the riverbanks and rendered the entire area unusable for years to come. It wasn't until the 1970s when artists banded together to reclaim and reuse this dusky portion of the town. Soon enough, artists of all veins were moving to the region with a mind to stay. It’s awareness has been broadened specifically through the works of the River Arts District Association. Running studio strolls since 1994, The associations website catalogs the history of most of the buildings in the district. https://www.riverartsdistrict.com/ Thank you for supporting our Patreon Page. / artifications Visit us: https://www.Artifications.com
