Link for the earlier episode on Satkosia Forest tour:    • Satkosia Forest Tiger Reserve | Purunakote...   After visiting Satkosia Forest Tiger Reserve, we returned to Angul from Purunakote Nature Camp. From Angul we reached Bhubaneswar at night by train. After spending the night at Hotel Eden Rock, near Bhubaneswar Railway Station, the next morning we started for Mangalajodi. The distance from Bhubaneswar to Mangalajodi is about 70km. We hired an Auto for the whole day basis for the return trip. It took a little more than 2 hrs to reach the Bird Watching point or the Boating point at Mangalajodi. From the Boating point we sailed on the vast waterbody in a country boat for bird watching. Mangalajodi is located n the northern parts of Chilika, consisting of shallow water bodies and marshland. The place has become one of best Bird Sancruaries in Eastern India. With the wide variety of migratory birds, in winter the place becomes paradise for bird watchers and photographers. I found that the count and density of birds at Mangalajodi are much higher than the popular birding spots in West Bengal, like Chupi or Gajalodoba. Amid a lovely scenic view with hills around, a boat ride for few hours on the lake, to see thousands and thousands of Northern Pintails, hundreds of Northern Sholvelers, Gadwalls, Terns, Godwits, a few dozens of Rudy Shelducks, Black winged Stilts, Lapwings, Plovers, couple of Bar headed Goose and Spot Billed Ducks, along with resident birds like Purple Moorhens, Cormorants, Open-billed storks, Kingfishers among many, was an amazing experience. After spending a day among thousands and thousands of birds at Mangalajodi, we returned to Bhubaneswar in the late afternoon. If planning for a day visit from Bhubaneswar: Auto Fare 1500-2000.
