I've been wanting to make this for a long, long time. Speakers (5W): https://www.aliexpress.us/item/325680... Bluetooth amplifier: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/325680... Magnetic type-c connectors: https://www.aliexpress.com/store/1101... Mini (mid sized) keyboard: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/225183... Type-c hub: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CXHR37YJ (find a cheaper one on aliexpress) Power add 10,000Mah power bank (no longer available) This was my first cyberdeck build ever, but I've long been a fan of them and have been scheming on making one for a long time. I started with a vision of actualy turning my Atari Portfolio mini computer from the 80's into a cyberdeck. After a lot of thinking I realized that I would only ultimately make it worse than what it should be and that's just a collector's item at this point. The only way I would be able to really update it would be to just shove a modern phone in there anyway, and since I would be doing that I might as well just build a deck around my phone. There was a huge use-case for me needing some larger and better sounding speakers from my phone so that was one of the main components. I essentially wanted to combine a computer, keyboard, boombox, hub, and battery into one small and easy to carry package. I go into great lengths explaining why I made the design choices I did and offer a lot of tips and things to think about if you're dreaming of building your own deck like this. The speakers are amazing for their size and while they're only 5W each, they are an insane upgrade over the phone's speakers. I actually will be revising this later when I get a new phone, and I will upgrade the power delivery to 20V and install some 20W speakers which is way overkill because these already get so loud that it's a bit painful to listen to at max volue. Sound test comparisons are included. I didn't want to make this video too long, but that was a failure. I split it into two parts with first just showing the deck, then after that going in depth about the design process, a full breakdown of the 3D model I made, and what it took to bring it all together and make it real. I have since built quite a few cyberdecks at this point and I will be showing them all in future build videos.
