A Simple Christmas: The Gift of JOY

Luke 1:39-56 As Mary anticipates the birth of Jesus, she visits her cousin, Elizabeth, who is also preparing to give birth to a miraculous child. As the two meet, the child in Elizabeth’s womb jumps with joy. This beautiful sign is another encouraging gift from God to help these women understand that God is doing great things. Mary’s response to God’s sign is appropriate—she worships. Worship is always an appropriate response to the work of God in our lives and in the world. (And God is always at work !) The beautiful thing about worship is that is both a response to the joy we have in Christ AND a catalyst that helps us receive joy in Christ. When we are looking for joy, we are looking for Christ. And one of the best ways to put our eyes on Jesus is to worship Him.
