Episode 4 CITIZEN SKYHAWK 2025 REVIEW: Pilot’s Honest Take on the New U830 After a week of real-world flying with the brand new Citizen Promaster Skyhawk U830, here’s my no-nonsense review from the flight levels and the FBO lounge. As an airline pilot with 32 years in the cockpit, I put this watch through its paces. 🛩️ WHAT WORKS: Slimmed-down 43mm case (manageable!) Anti-reflective sapphire crystal—crisp legibility in any light Upgraded Memory-in-Pixel (MiP) display—better contrast and power savings Eco-Drive solar charging—no battery swaps, 1-year power reserve 200m water resistance—ready for anything from the cockpit to the pool Cleaner dial layout—less clutter, more pilot-friendly ⚠️ WHAT DOESN’T: No more atomic timekeeping—my #1 disappointment as a working pilot Slide rule bezel indices are just too tiny for real use (party trick, not a tool) Red LCD backlight is dim and feels dated in 2025 Menu system is a maze—RTFM required! Lume performance is just OK (expected more for night ops) REAL PILOT PERSPECTIVE: I wore my original C651 Skyhawk through hundreds of hours of flight time in the early 2000s. This new U830 version looks sharper but drops the atomic sync and keeps a fiddly menu system. Is it worth $795? I break it all down in this video—no fluff, just my opinions from the cockpit. CHAPTERS: Why the 2025 Skyhawk matters Unboxing & first impressions Cockpit testing—how does it fly? Tech deep dive: U830 movement Old vs. new Skyhawk Final verdict: Buy or skip? FEATURED WATCH SPECS: Citizen Promaster Skyhawk U830 (2025) • 43mm stainless steel case • Eco-Drive U830 quartz movement • 200m water resistance • MSRP: $795 USD JOIN THE CONVERSATION: What’s your go-to cockpit timepiece?
