Winter hike to Silver Falls

Winter hike to Silver Falls in Washington state. We had to hike the extra 6 miles to get to the trailhead since the road is closed in the winter. The hike was a windy one and the trail was a bit treacherous. Once we reached the actual trail it was covered in hard snow topped with ice. On The trail itself the snow was 5 ‘ above the handrail and it was a little scary and probably not our smartest choice. Did I mention it was windy? We thought we were hearing gunshots , however it was actually a bunch of trees that were falling off to the right of us. We watched on fall and hit the ground and it was crazy. We did make it to the waterfall and managed to hike back in the dark and to our truck and we were exhausted! I don’t recommend this trail in the winter!
