Original upload: 2022 Nov 16 Arm MPAM Support - Henry Wang & Wei Chen, Arm Ltd Computer systems can run multiple applications/VMs concurrently, the resources available to one software environment may vary, depending on which other programs are running, because they may consume memory-system resources in an uncontrolled way. To minimize the effects of misbehaving software on the shared resources, Arm has introduced an hardware extension after Armv8.4, the Memory System Resource Partitioning and Monitoring (MPAM), which allows an OS/Hypervisor to bound and monitor the usage of system level cache and memory bandwidth by applications/VMs running on the platform. This presentation will cover the latest update of the Xen MPAM extension support, including MPAM principle, firmware configuration (device tree/ACPI), and the usage by utilizing the xl-psr interface in Xentool. There will be also a live demo to showcase the MPAM operation on the FVP_Base_AEMv8A-AEMv8A platform.
