Hi Jesse here with etrailer. Today we'll be taking a look at and I'll show you how to install the Draw-Tite Custom Fit Class III Trailer Hitch on our 2022 Subaru Outback. Adding a hitch to a Subaru Outback is a super popular decision. It gives you the ability to add on maybe a cargo carrier or a bike rack and you can even do some light duty towing. As I said, this is a really popular choice for adding a hitch onto an Outback. It's gonna be your road trip car, your adventure car. You also want this to look good. So as you can see we have some hidden cross tubes and a nice semi gloss finish. So from the back all you can see is your standard two inch receiver opening. Then behind that we have a standard 5/8ths inch pinhole that will fit most of your accessories or your pin and clips that are available. The hitch itself does not come with a pin, but we do have them available here at etrailer and any accessories that you might add on will most likely come with one included. You'll also have the safety cable loop here, get that outta the way. So your safety cable loop, nice round design will hook up super easy to any clip that you might have, whether it be this quick connect kind or a clevis style. Now for some measurements, from the ground to the top of the inside of the car is 15 and three quarters inches. So that's a good middle of the road number. You shouldn't have to worry about adding on anything with a rise or a drop, it's right in the middle. And then from the center of the pinhole to the edge of the bumper is about two inches. So keep that in mind for any folding accessories that you might add on, just to make sure that they don't make contact with the vehicle. As for weight capacities, the gross trailer weight will be 3,500 pounds. That's the amount of weight that you'll pull behind the vehicle. The towing weight is 525 pounds. That's gonna be the amount of weight pushing down on the hitch. Just be sure to double check your owner's manual. Check the capacities of your Subaru, just to make sure that you're safe on the road. All in all, if you're looking to add a hitch to your Outback, I think this is a great option. I really like the finish on this particular hitch, I think it looks great on the back of the vehicle. As for the install goes, we do have to remove the fascia. So if that's something that worries you or maybe you just don't have enough time or space to do the project, feel free to check out our Dealer Locator. However, if you are ready to tackle yourself, feel free to follow along this video and I'll show you how we set up ours. We'll begin our installation here inside the hatch. We're gonna remove this taillight, so we'll have these little push pins. We should be able spin that with a Phillips with some light pressure. Once it comes out a bit, you should be able to kind of pull that out. So we can get these two out of there. And then we can remove this plastic cover, it's held in by some clips, so you might need a plastic trim tool to kind of help you get it started. Start over here. Get that popped out, set aside. Now we have two 10 millimeter bolts holding the taillight in. (power tool whirring) Remove those. Now, we'll just kind of have to work this out. Just be careful not to bend it any weird way, but it will take some force, because it's got a tab holding it in. With that removed, we'll have this one plug that we need to unplug. So just push the tab and pull it up and set that aside. We're here under the vehicle now and we just need to remove all these push pins that are holding our fascia on. So I'll just take this tool. You could also use a flathead screwdriver, just kind of work your way under it, pop that middle out and the whole thing should pop out. So we're just gonna work our way around. We'll get this one. Once we get to the middle, I kind of like to just pull down on the fascia, because there are some push pins that are just keeping pieces of the fascia together, but just pull down and that'll tell you whether it's one that you need to remove or not. So I'll get this one off, and then that one right there that can stay. This one is holding it on, so I'm just gonna work my way all the way around the vehicle and remove all these push pins. We're here on the driver's side, I have a small dri
