"Who or what is Bond Man?" is what you're probably thinking right now. I actually just found out about this guy and his rather interesting story. It seems that back in the day it was originally planned that the first Mega Man would have eight robot masters. During development however the amount of robot masters had to be cut down to six because of limitations. Up to this point seven robot masters were already created, so one had to be scrapped. This turned out to be Bond Man: an adhesive-themed robot master created by Keiji Inafune. Unfortunately all of the original illustrations of Bond Man seem to be lost except for a rendition done by manga artist Hitoshi Ariga where he drew Bond Man based on Inafune's comments. Even though Bond Man never appeared in any of the games he actually has a cult following in Japan where they call him 'legendary' and 'the phantom robot master'. Being the sucker that I am for awesome Mega Man trivia I instantly think of a time where Bond Man would have existed in Mega Man 1. And that's where my Mega Man Revised series come in. Inspired by other Bond Man art, I created this sprite which should fit right in with the other robot masters. The level is designed using stage tiles from other official Mega Man games. I went for a high-rise construction as his stage because it's an interesting and (I believe) first-time robot master location. I could see Bond Man working here, practically glueing the building together. Mega Man would be working his way up to the roof where Bond Man is waiting. The music you're hearing is a different story altogether. It is in fact composed by Manami Matsumae (the original composer of Mega Man 1) for 'World 1-2': an album that features original music of renowned game composers. She was asked to "make a song resembling the early days of Mega Man" and thus created the song 'One Shot, One Kill' which has an undeniable Mega Man feel to it. It starts out sad and ends up being a bit angry, just as how Bond Man may feel for being left out of the first game. So in my mind I'm thinking what if this was Bond Man's theme and decided to remake the song in 8-bit and do this whole video. Gameplay wise I can see Bond Man appearing in the middle of stage select after you've defeated all of the robot masters. So yeah, here's to the phantom robot master Bond Man and I hope you enjoy! ------------- Consider supporting me on Ko-fi! ☕ https://ko-fi.com/bsolmaz13 SoundCloud ► / bsolmaz13 OverClocked Remix ► https://ocremix.org/artist/17057/bsol...
