As Tasmania's major trauma centre, the Royal Hobart Hospital provides care and treatment for those with the most serious and complex injuries and sees hundreds of major trauma cases annually. Following the expansion of the service earlier this year, all major trauma patients are now admitted under a single multidisciplinary team of specialist trauma doctors and nurses. From injury to rehabilitation, they ensure patients receive the best possible care during their treatment and recovery. Benefits of the new model are reaching across the State, with the new trauma bed-card and referral system ensuring consistent management for complex injuries, no matter where patients are located. Trauma clinicians are available around the clock, guiding colleagues in the North and North West to provide the best care for seriously injured patients.
