No Words- i am speechless!! 00:00 Song Demo 02:04 Sounds with LP 09:20 sounds with Strat 18:33 sounds with pedals 21:43 closing Thoughts Amalgam Audio: To many this might be the endgame as far as plexi era Marshall tones are concerned. Imagine the perfect mix between a 68 Super Bass and a 69 Super Lead - for what ever reason, this is how this amp sounds! It is an early JMP model that features the Black Flag 100W specs with the Drake 132 OT and the Dual Rectifier setup. It embodies all the desirable aspects one is looking for in a good plexi amp - wrm, round, mid-focussed sound that retains lots of detail and clarity, delivers incredible punch and a visceral attack. You know that attack of Jimmy Page's playing for example in the Immigrant song on the How The West Was Won live album that you could never quite nail no matter what you tried with the pick-attack... well give this one a go and see how it goes. Without a doubt our favorite Marshall amp here at amalgam headquarters and my personal favorite amp of all time. The black flag spec 100W Marshalls were played by Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Paul Kossoff, Eric Johnson and many more, while still today this style of spec is the favorite of some incredible players that have played them all - including Mr. Thomas Blug (a 100W Super PA black flag in his case). Full and piano like clean tones, the best edge of breakup tones (try a Strat with the warm and warm2 captures!), the quintessential Marshall crunch and a phenomenal pedal platform amp. No weak spots here, this amp rules among all the Marshalls for me and quite frankly, over any amp i've ever heard or played. Hence it has received the fitting name - "REX". Befitting a true ruler, the amp was captured through a holy grail of guitar cabs - our recently acquired 1969 Marshall 1982B cab with original Celestion G12H30 55Hz speakers featuring original Pulsonic cones in great shape. This is the exact model and speakers that all the big rock acts of the late 60's and early 70's played, as they delivered the necessary power handling.
